Normandy Park

The neighborhood of Normandy Park is tucked between the larger cities of Burien and Des Moines. It is located directly west of the SeaTac Airport and sits on the shores of the Puget Sound. The community has a small-town feel and prides itself on being a quiet, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. There are more than 100 acres of parks to explore and Seattle is only 14 miles north on Highway 509.

Local bus routes serving Normandy Park are few, with only two bus routes running along 1st Avenue. To reach downtown, or access a Rapid Ride, at least one transfer would have to be made (likely in Burien). Morning commute times to downtown Seattle by car average at 45 minutes, with bus options taking upwards of 60 minutes. The nearest major road is Highway 509, often referred to by Normandy Park residents as their own "private freeway" due to its minimal traffic.

Several ECEAP and Head Start sites in neighboring towns.

ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) and Head Start are early learning programs that help children under age 5 build skills that will get them ready for kindergarten, prepare them to excel in school and be successful as adults. KCHA's Educational Initiatives team has a longstanding partnership with Highline Public Schools. Together, we work to support our students through in- and out-of-school programming that prepares them to succeed academically. Students will likely attend Marvista Elementary, Pacific Middle School and Mount Rainier High School.

Within Normandy Park, you will find a QFC and the Normandy Park Market. Just a few miles north in Burien, there are more options, to include a Grocery Outlet, Safeway, Fred Meyer and a Trader Joe's. There are also food banks located in Burien and Des Moines.
