Downtown Bellevue – Mercer Island

Bellevue is the second largest city center in Washington, with a vibrant downtown complete with high rises, restaurants and shopping. Bellevue has consistently ranked among the best places to live by outlets like USA Today. Mercer Island, surrounded by Lake Washington and situated between Seattle and Bellevue can be accessed by I-90. Both areas have top-ranked school districts.

A bus-rich area with I-90 and 520 bridges to Seattle.

Several bus routes provide access within the area, with numerous routes crossing the I-90 and 520 bridges into Seattle. The Rapid Ride B Line begins in downtown Bellevue with service to Redmond. In 2023, the East Link Light Rail will be completed, connecting the Bellevue area to the rest of the region's rail system. Morning driving commutes to Seattle are a quick 20 minutes over I-90. It's worth noting that 520 bridge is a toll road.

Head Start, ECEAP and preschool options available in Bellevue.

ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) and Head Start are early learning programs that help children under age 5 build skills that will get them ready for kindergarten, prepare them to excel in school and be successful as adults. The Bellevue School District offers a preschool program for kids ages 3-5, Head Start is offered at Bellevue College and ECEAP has several locations throughout Bellevue.

The area has a variety of grocery options, including QFC and Safeway. The downtown Bellevue area is known for its vibrant shopping and restaurant scene, with the commercial district on Mercer Island being less prominent. However, the Mercer Island area is served by a Godo Pantry located at the Luther Burbank park. Food Banks in Bellevue are located outside of the downtown area, west of I-405.

Ample outdoor and indoor recreation for all.

Despite being in the heart of the city of Bellevue, there are several great ways to get outside and play. The Bellevue Downtown Park is a 21-acre space with a great playground for kids. There are also miles of walking trails at Mercer Slough Nature Park. On Mercer Island, the Luther Burbank Park has an indoor play center for kids, as well as lots of green space and a dog park with water access!
